Course Details
This NRA Course enhanced by S2 Alpha is intermediate level and provides the experienced shooter with the knowledge skills and mindset required to safely, responsibly and effectively employ a concealed handgun for self-defense. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on conflict avoidance, control of one's ego and anger management. The student will be required to learn and practice a diverse set of shooting skills in order to counter a violent threat outside the home. These skills include presentation from a holster or purse, point shooting, shooting while moving and effectively using cover and concealment. The course includes the legal issues surrounding concealed carry, prohibited persons, locations where concealed carry is not permitted, the legal and ethical ramifications of responding to a life threating encounter with a concealed firearm and the legal, moral, emotional and social aftermath of the use of deadly force.

Course Duration: 14 hours (2 days) Prerequisite(s): Students must have completed the NRA Personal Protection in the Home Course, Pistol Skills Builder Course or approved equivalent. Equipment Needed: Appropriate ear and eye protection; a sturdy belt, strong side holster and magazine pouch required; ammunition and semi-automatic pistol or revolver with 1 spare magazine or speed loader in one of the following calibers: .380 auto, .38 special, 9mm, .357 magnum, .40 S&W or .45 auto. Round count: 1000 Other recommended gear: Sturdy shoes for walking and pivoting, billed cap, bug spray, sun screen and hydration. Instructors: Bruce Blessington Schedule: By appointment only |
